Fate Saga is a fantastical, action/drama animated series about fate and free will, and follows Cain, a knight who can see the future. With only glimpses of prophecies to guide him, Cain interferes in natural disasters and war in hopes of stopping his tragic visions from happening.

However, in a world on the brink of an apocalypse, is knowing the final outcome enough to change it?

Trailer Version 21

Update (3/2/2011) : Sound has been updated, by Tim Liedel. The biggest difference with the sound is reverberation added to the dialogue, as well as some sound effects and extra dialogue which helps with the narrative. This is the final version of the trailer in terms of the Thesis. After this quarter is over, the trailer has a few other updates to add before we start using it for advertising.

The trailer is so close to being finished! The final matte paintings have been added in, most of the color correction is done, the final animations have been added and particles have been added to most of the shots that need them. Now it's just a matter of nitpicking, adding the final sound and fixing any small problems! So exciting!!!

Mittens Concept Art and Model Sheets

Mittens model sheet by Dana Corrigan, based off of designs from Samantha de Graffenreid

Mittens is Cyrus' kitten, and a small but important part of the pilot episode. Sam designed the cat, and I worked from the designs to create a model sheet. Mittens is supposed to be about 5-6 months old, still a kitten but old enough that he can explore on his own.

Cyrus loves animals, and Mittens is meant to represent Cyrus' soft side and, for the sake of the pilot, gives him an innocent motivation despite all the chaos he causes in the town.

Pilot Trailer version 18

The updates pertain to the degree of completeness of some of the shots. Many of the shots, especially the later ones, now have backgrounds. Also most of the shots have been inked and are in process of coloring. Zelda's completed fire has been added to shot 126. However, most of the color effects have not yet been applied to the new shots. Ryan's currently working on the color adjustments so that should be the next major update. :D

Pilot Trailer version 17 - Picture Lock

Here is the most current, picture-locked version of the trailer. This is the version that was just sent to sound design for the final sounds and music editing. The animations in this trailer will continue to be updated with clean up, colors and compositing, but the timing will no longer change.

Shot 66 Cleaned and Colored

Roughs by Dana Corrigan. Clean Up and Colors by Chrystal Giambastiani

This is the sequence when Cyrus first lunges at Cain and begins the fight. I had roughed the animation over Winter Break and Chrystal did a splendid job with the clean up and coloring it! The 3D background has been rendered so this sequence just needs matte painting and the color correction in After Effects and it will be finished.

SC047 Final Render

Animation and Clean Up by Dana Corrigan. Colors by Maddy Rojo. Background Models by Amy Galletta. Composite by Dana Corrigan and Ryan Gatts. Texture, Lighting, Matte Painting and Particles by Ryan Gatts.

We have our very first completely finished final render of Fate Saga! This includes all color correction, final animation, background render and particles. Unless any problem is noted and needs correction, this scene should be completely done.

Admittedly this is a very exciting moment, to see everything coming together and how the 2D and 3D is now converging so well! The rest of the town backgrounds will also be matte painted although the Crystalin will remain without matte paints because we get enough colors and texture from the 3D file itself and the color in After Effects.

Fate Saga Composite-in-Progress version 23

Composite by Ryan Gatts and Dana Corrigan

This is the most current state of the Fate Saga composite from 2/5/11. The composites were arranged by me and then passed off to Ryan for further color correction, lighting and particle effects. Some shots are further along than others. The more the characters look like they belong in their environments, the farther along the composites are. Some of the shots have only been arranged together but have not yet been color corrected - you'll be able to tell because the characters will look separated from the environment.
