Fate Saga is a fantastical, action/drama animated series about fate and free will, and follows Cain, a knight who can see the future. With only glimpses of prophecies to guide him, Cain interferes in natural disasters and war in hopes of stopping his tragic visions from happening.

However, in a world on the brink of an apocalypse, is knowing the final outcome enough to change it?

Fate Saga is an original animated action/drama series taking place in a fantastical world based on Medieval Europe.

Fighting Game Screenshot

For the Merchandising section of the Fate Saga pitch book, we talk about potential marketing strategies that the series would be a good candidate for - including video games. This 'screen shot' illustration serves as a visual to our point. We felt that Fighting and RPG games would be the best potential angle for Fate Saga, but we chose to illustrate the Fighting game because it was easier to show the characters in an action pose.

We asked Rhandi to use Bianca and Seiron to give some of the other important characters besides the main four a chance to show off. She did a spectacular job.

Here are some of the work-in-progress drafts:

Thanks to Everyone who came to Metrocon!

I wanted to draw a little picture of Fate Saga team camaraderie in the spirit of Metrocon! Go team!

I wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who came to visit the Fate Saga panels at Metrocon! It was great to see so much interest and interactivity at the convention!

For those who couldn't make it, in the panels we used Fate Saga as a springboard to talk about different industry-related topics such as developing a story from concept to pitch, using the iceberg theory to develop riveting characters and the Animation Industry production pipeline.

Fate Saga will also be at Anime Festival Orlando. Check out soon for more information!

Weight of the World

Sketch by Tracy MacLauchlan. Background colors by Yesenia Carrero. Cain's updated line art and colors by Dana Corrigan

Over a year and a half ago, the below sketch was given to me as a gift by the lovely, kind and incredibly talented Tracy MacLauchlan:

I loved it so much that I used it in the original pitch book (with her permission) to Warner Brothers. Between then and the development of the new pitch book, the cast had gone through a dramatic change in their designs, which changed Cain's details and proportions. While designing the new pitch book, the emotion and darkness of this image fit so well. With Tracy's permission, I redrafted an updated version of Cain, very strongly referencing her original sketch.

Jess had been kind enough to color the background during the construction of the original pitch book, to be used for the cover. Though the cover for the new pitch book has changed, this colored background fit beautifully back where it originally belonged.

I love how this came out, and it never would have been possible without Jess and Tracy. Thank you guys so much!

We're Excited to Announce Steve Blum as Attached to Fate Saga

We are excited to announce that the roles of Seiron and Vektor are now closed. Steve Blum, best known for his roles as Spike (Cowboy Bebop), Wolverine (Wolverine and the X-Men), Orochimaru (Naruto), Darcia (Wolf's Rain) and Green Goblin (Spectacular Spider-Man), has been recruited to Fate Saga for the dual roles!

We are still in the process of attaching great talent to our cast! Keep checking back for updates! Thank you so much everyone, for your continued support!

Fate Saga Pitch Book Cover Design Process

Lines by Dana Corrigan, with much help and critique from Tracy MacLauchlan, Yesenia Carrero, Scott Smith, Ochumilla Travieso and Sofia Alexander.
Colors by Sofia Alexander

Throughout the last few months, the Fate Saga pitch book has received a complete overhaul, including all new graphics and revamped text. This is the new cover. I was hoping to make it look epic while giving a good first impression of the main characters. I think Sofia's color and lighting choices really helped to emphasize the villains' creepiness and bring out the heroes' colors.

A tremendous thank you to Tracy, Jess, Scott, Milly and Sofia for all of their help and advice while I was designing the cover. Here are some of the prior drafts:

Resurgiance to a Regular Update Schedule

Hello everyone! After this brief reprieve, Fate Saga's blog is now returning to a regular posting schedule of Mondays and Fridays at 12am.

These last few months had been dedicated to recreating the pitch book with all new graphics and updated text based off of all of the changes done to the character designs, environments and story since last year. It's excited to see it finally done, and in the time spent working on it, we now have a great deal of new material and announcements not yet online.

The new schedule for now is going to work like this: Mondays will be events, information and story-based posts, talking more about Fate Saga in general, any fun announcements, character updates, etc. Fridays will be artwork-based posts, and will talk about production from an artistic standpoint (such as what the artwork is used for or the process of developing the artwork).

So mark your calendars for every Monday and Friday, folks, put on your shades and look forward to some exciting information about Fate Saga coming soon!
